Star Trek: "Where No Man Has Gone Before"

Data
Title: Star Trek“Where No Man Has Gone Before”
Year: 1966
Network: NBC
Episode: the third (of twenty-nine) from season one; 50 minutes
Creator: Gene Roddenberry
Director: James Goldstone
Writer: Samuel A. Peeples
Starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Gary Lockwood, Sally Kellerman
Music: Alexander Courage
I saw it: on video and TV several times, most recently a few days ago (have on DVD)
Synopsis: an ordinary crewman develops mind powers

My reaction
Concept:1/4 (Bad)
Story:3/4 (Good) It works much better than "Charlie X," since the god-like powers are growing throughout the episode, and they manage to write themselves out of it at the end.
Characters:3/4 (Good)
Dialog:3/4 (Good)
Pacing:3/4 (Good)
Cinematography:2/4 (Indifferent)
Special effects/design:4/4 (Great)
Acting:3/4 (Good)
Music:4/4 (Great)
Subjective Rating: 8/10 (Great, 4/4 (Great)). This was one of the show's pilots, so the production values are notably higher than the rest of the series. And the writing is of pretty high quality since they had a lot to prove at that point.
Objective Rating (Average):3/4 (Good)
