Star Trek: "A Taste of Armageddon"

Title: Star Trek“A Taste of Armageddon”
Year: 1967
Network: NBC
Episode: the twenty-third (of twenty-nine) from season one; 50 minutes
Creator: Gene Roddenberry
Director: Joseph Pevney
Writers: Robert Hamner & Gene L. Coon; story by Hamner
Starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, David Opatoshu, Gene Lyons, Barbara Babcock
Music: Alexander Courage
I saw it: on video and TV several times, most recently a couple days ago (have on DVD)
Synopsis: two worlds are at war with no battles, only casualties

My reaction
Concept:3/4 (Good) Pretty hard to buy if you give it too much thought, unless you keep reminding yourself that this is supposed to be an alien culture, so their behavior can be as implausible as the writers feel like.  Still a nice idea, though.
Story:3/4 (Good)
Characters:1/4 (Bad)
Dialog:3/4 (Good)
Pacing:4/4 (Great)
Cinematography:2/4 (Indifferent)
Special effects/design:4/4 (Great)
Acting:3/4 (Good)
Music:4/4 (Great)
Subjective Rating: 8/10 (Great, 4/4 (Great)). A clever concept, written well enough to work, with silly hats.
Objective Rating (Average):3.1/4 (Very good)
