Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Data
Title: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Year: 2002
Length: 161 minutes
Director: Chris Columbus
Writer: Steve Kloves, based on the book by J.K. Rowling
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson
Music: John Williams
I saw it: probably in the theater, 2002; on video a couple times, most recently two days ago (rented from Netflix)
Synopsis: the students of a school for wizards are attacked by an unseen monster

My reaction
Concept:2/4 (Indifferent)
Story:3/4 (Good)
Characters:3/4 (Good) Bonus point for Dobby.
Dialog:3/4 (Good) There are some very funny lines in there, but also a lot of crap.
Pacing:2/4 (Indifferent)
Cinematography:2/4 (Indifferent)
Special effects/design:1/4 (Bad) The special effects aren't as bad as the first movie, but they're still bad, and there's not much in the way of design to balance them out this time.
Acting:2/4 (Indifferent) There's no bad acting, and Rupert Grint gives a pretty entertaining performance, but there's still not quite anything I'd call good acting.
Music:2/4 (Indifferent)
Subjective Rating: 7/10 (Good, 3/4 (Good)). After re-watching this one, I realize that what's missing from the first movie is a sense of humor. That one was just a fairy tale, while this one is an adventure comedy; a handful of good laughs here and there go a long way to making it fun to watch.
Objective Rating (Average):2.3/4 (Okay)
