Data
Title: Star Trek“Operation - Annihilate!”
Year: 1967
Network: NBC
Episode: the last (of twenty-nine) from season one; 50 minutes
Creator: Gene Roddenberry
Director: Herschel Daugherty
Writer: Steven W. Carabatsos
Starring: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley
Music: Alexander Courage
I saw it: on video and TV several times, most recently yesterday (have on DVD)
Synopsis: a madness that has destroyed civilizations is spreading across the galaxy

My reaction
Concept:1/4 (Bad) If your three heroes have to wrap up all the show's problems with a neat bow in under fifty minutes, please do not put them up against something that's stumped entire worlds across centuries.
Story:2/4 (Indifferent)
Characters:3/4 (Good)
Dialog:1/4 (Bad)
Pacing:2/4 (Indifferent)
Cinematography:2/4 (Indifferent)
Special effects/design:4/4 (Great) Where things look like crap, it's really the fault of the writing. I mean, flying amoebas look like crap - no way around it.
Acting:2/4 (Indifferent) Shatner's bad, but Nimoy's pretty good for a change.
Music:4/4 (Great)
Subjective Rating: 7/10 (Good, 3/4 (Good)). A frustrating mix of good, exciting bits and campy, bad-science bits.
Objective Rating (Average):2.4/4 (Okay)
