"Mouse Wreckers"

"Mouse Wreckers," 1949. Two mice play mind games on a cat.

Directed by Chuck Jones. Written by Michael Maltese. Starring Mel Blanc.

Concept: 3/4 (Good)
Story: 4/4 (Great). I wouldn't have thought I'd ever be giving a 4/4 for story to a Looney Tunes cartoon. I mean, it's just the usual simple pattern of violence and escalation, but in this case, it's clever and absorbing and absolutely flawless.
Characters: 2/4 (Indifferent)
Dialog: 3/4 (Good). Wisely sparse.
Pacing: 4/4 (Great)
Cinematography: 3/4 (Good)
Special effects/design: 3/4 (Good)
Acting: 4/4 (Great)
Music: 4/4 (Great)
Subjective Rating: 8/10 (Great, 4/4). The comedic timing is perfect. It has a hilariously cruel sense of mischief. Chuck Jones at his best.
Objective Rating (Average): 3.4/4 (Very good)
